Video | 2019 Highlights

2019 was an incredible year for me. In all likelihood, it will be the year that I look back on as the year that I decided to follow my passion. It was the first year that I truly dedicated time to storm chasing, and the first year that I let the feelings, emotions and process of chasing tornadoes fully immerse me.

It has been a long time coming.

Since I was a child, I have marveled at storm chasing from afar. Years of studying meteorology, several more years building a meteorology company with some of my best friends, and even more years remaining confused about what I wanted to do – it has all led me here.

Standing in the fields of Farnam, Nebraska and watching a beautiful tornado, so many emotions came rushing back. As I stood there watching that beautiful tornado, I was also on my parents living room floor watching Bill Paxton do the same thing in Twister, just like I had been 20 years earlier. The emotion of that moment is something I will always hold close to my heart.

2020 will be the year that I fully pursue my passion of capturing the most powerful thunderstorms on earth. It will be the year which I explore this passion more deeply – provide more data, more communication, capture better video, and create more meaningful art. But for a moment, lets take a look back at 2019. I created this video with the intention of keeping the moments simple, short and poignant – as an embrace of what has occurred, and a nod to what’s yet to come.

Enjoy.
